Legal Assistant – Litigation Mortgage Enforcement Permanent NEW

Fabulous law firm located in North York is growing!

The team is looking to add a legal assistant working with Litigation Mortgage Enforcement.

Responsibilities

• Open, maintain, and close client files and conduct conflict searches.
• Performing searches using TransUnion, Equifax, MTO, and Teraview databases.
• Draft and send demand letters, service letters, and other legal correspondence.
• Prepare and file court documents through the Justice Services Online (JSO) portal.
• Coordinate service of legal documents and liaise with court staff, agents, and process servers.
• Prepare legal documentation including affidavits of service, satisfaction pieces, notices of discontinuance, and motion materials.
• Manage Case Centre uploads and hyperlink documents per court practice directions.
• Communicate with clients, debtors, opposing counsel, and other legal professionals.
• Assist with monthly prebills, invoicing, and general file maintenance.

Skills/ Qualification

• 3+ years of experience in a litigation department, preferably with exposure to recovery or creditor rights.
• Working knowledge of court rules, litigation procedures, and legal documentation.
• Experience with JSO, Case Centre, and legal search platforms (TransUnion, Equifax, Teraview, MTO).
• Excellent communication in English written and verbal.
• Advanced computer literacy and comfort working in an automated legal environment.
