Commercial Litigation Associate role – 100% remote Permanent

Fabulous boutique law firm located in Downtown Toronto is hiring. The firm offers dynamic work from home, interesting files to work on – commercial litigation and career growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Represent clients in all manner of commercial litigation matters, including breach of contract, commercial lease enforcement, employment, injunctions, shareholder disputes, real estate and construction lien matters.
• Have carriage of commercial litigation files, including drafting, conducting examinations, arguing motions, participating in dispute resolution, and appearing at trial.

Key Requirements:

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial litigation.
• Strong expertise in security vetting and receiverships.
• Excellent advocacy skills, including drafting, conducting examinations, and appearing in court on contested matters.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building strong client relationships.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Top shelf litigation and will be directly and intimately involved in the process.

They will appear in court and at trial and will be expected to take a very active role managing the cases.

The commercial litigation files are generally high-end.

Most cases are worth between 2 and 10 million. Some cases have considerably more money at stake (1 is in excess of 1 billion). The cases also involve public figures.

All the cases are civil litigation, but they are not strictly commercial. I have professional negligence (accountants/engineers), breach of contract/sales cases, I completed an aboriginal land claim case last year, malicious prosecution, but the bulk of the work is commercial litigation on the commercial list in Toronto.  Nothing is run of the mill and it is usually pretty exciting and unique work.
