RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage busy insurance defence practice focused on AB files.
Communicate with clients and opposing counsel;
Assembly of pleadings, affidavits, motion records, motion confirmation forms, facta and books of authorities, etc.
Coordinate with process servers regarding service and filing of court materials;
Solid computer skills including: MS Word; MS Outlook, PC Law, Windows
Excellent written and verbal English skills, including spelling and grammar.
Confident, service-focused individual who is cheerful, helpful, friendly, pleasant yet, diplomatic.
Prioritize and organize.
All scheduling including with courts;
Preparing and issuing legal correspondence and documents as needed.
Knowledge of Accident Benefits and LAT mediation/arbitration procedures;
Dicta typing as needed.
Other admin tasks as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1 plus years’ working experience as a litigation assistant in Ontario
Knowledge of the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure and court practice and procedures at various levels;
Graduate of a legal assistant or law clerk program.
