Tax and Estates Legal Assistant – up to 85K, hybrid

Fabulous full service law firm is growing! The firm located downtown Toronto is looking to add an Estates and Tax legal assistant to their team. The firm offers: competitive salary, full benefits, career growth and many perks! Salary is up to 85K. This is a hybrid role, in the office 3 days and work from home 2 days.

The position reports to 2 fabulous lawyers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare correspondence and legal documents relating to areas of taxation and estate planning including complex wills, family trusts and estate administration;
• Organize, open, manage and close client files;
• Prepare reports – estate planning and corporate reorganizations;
• Enter dockets and processing monthly accounts;
• Maintain tickler systems to monitor key dates for task management;
• Schedule meetings and co-ordinate appointments as required ensuring the lawyer’s calendar is up-to-date, including adding events, rescheduling appointments and providing daily briefings;
• Acting as a point of contact for incoming and outgoing communications including phone calls, emails, and documents for clients and vendors;
• Planning and organizing internal firm events, such as, lawyer events and client events; and
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required:

• Graduate of a Legal Assistant program
• 5 plus years’ experience working in a law firm setting
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and Outlook)
• Working knowledge of Adobe/Kofax PDF, DocuSign, Workshare Compare, Closing Folders, CorpLink and Carpe Diem
• Experience working with a document management system, e.g., iManage
• Strong communication skills written and verbal in English
